Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE) is conducted in April by Anna University, Chennai for admission to professional courses in Tamil Nadu. These courses are offered by Government, Government Aided and Private Professional Colleges that are controlled by:

Anna University 
Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy 
Directorate of Medical Education 
Directorate of Technical Education 
Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and its affiliate institute 
Tamil Nadu Veterinary Animal Sciences University

• Candidates who have passed the HSC or qualifying examination are eligible to apply.

• Those who will be appearing in the HSC or qualifying examination in the year of the TNPCEE exam are also eligible.

• The minimum marks to be secured in the HSC examination for admission to Professional Courses in Tamil Nadu is as follows:

- MEDICINE: (MBBS / BDS / B.Pharm / BSMS / BHMS / BPT / 
   B.Sc Nursing).

- ENGINEERING: (B.E. and B.Tech of Anna University, and   
    B.E. and B.Tech of Directorate of Technical Education).

- AGRICULTURE AND VETERINARY: (B.Sc(Agriculture)/B.Sc 
   Forestry) / B.V.Sc / B.F.Sc).

Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu and those who meet the nativity/domicile requirements as laid down by the respective Admitting Authorities for admission to their Professional Courses.

• Candidates belonging to Other States who are seeking admission against the:
    - Seats reserved for Other State candidates in Anna.
       University 
   - Payment Seats in Private (Self-financing) Engineering
     Colleges in Tamil Nadu must  also appear in the TNPCEE exam.
   
   

• Other State candidates are not permitted to Professional Courses offered by the Directorate of Medical Education, Office of the Director of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, Tamil Nadu agricultural University and Tamil Nadu Veterinary and animal Sciences University. Those exempted from this condition are candidates applying under the Special Category quota - Children of Tamil Nadu origin settled in Andaman Nicobar.
  
   

• Separate advertisements are released by the respective Admitting Authorities, which give the details for admission. Candidates must look for such advertisements and file applications accordingly as selection to a particular course is based upon the procedures as laid down by the respective Authority.

 
Paper 1: Biology
Paper 2: Physical Sciences (Questions in Physics and Chemistry)
Paper 3: Mathematics
Paper 4: Related Subjects (For Vocational stream candidates)
Paper 5: Vocational Subjects (For Vocational stream candidates)
Paper 6:Aptitude Test in Architecture (Compulsory for B. Arch.
            candidates)

Selection to the Professional Courses is based upon the marks secured in the relevant subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, in the qualifying examination (HSC or equivalent) and in the TNPCEE exam with a weightage of 200:100.
 

 
The Application Form and the Information booklet can be obtained in person from:
     - Designated Canara Bank branches in Tamil Nadu,
     - State Bank of India, Anna University branch, Chennai - 600025
     - Designated coordinating centres throughout Tamil Nadu

They can be obtained by post from the Secretary, Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination Centre, Anna University, Chennai - 600025 by mailing a requisition  letter with a self-addressed slip and a Deman Draft drawn in favour of the Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University, Chennai payable at Service Branch, Chennai, obtained from any Nationalised Bank or Cooperative Bank before the last date.  The candidate's name should be written at the back of the Demand Draft.

The above fee covers 2 subjects, no extra fee is charged for the third subject (except the Aptitude Test in Architecture). Candidates applying for the Aptitude Test in architecture should enclose a Demand Draft for Rs. 200/- drawn in favour of the Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University, Chennai alongwith the completed application form.

SC/ST candidates desiring to obtain the forms at concessional reates should submit either one of the following:
     - Certificate obtained from the Head of the Institution last 
        studied /  studying, to that effect
     - Attested photocopy of the SC/ST community certificate
     - Attested photocopy of the Transfer Certificate of the
        candidate wherein it is mentioned that the candidate is
        from the Tamil Nadu SC/ST community
